Ode to Chippy Lane

Poem:

Down Chippy Lane there is Tony showing photographs
Of every mouth he’s had the pleasure to feed
And all the people that come and go
Stop and say shwmae
On the corner is a wanker with a vip stamp
The girls all laugh at him behind his back
And the wanker never wears a mack
In the pouring rain, very strange
Chippy Lane is in my ears and in my eyes
There beneath the blue Cardiff skies
I sit, and meanwhile back
Chippy Lane is in my ears and in my eyes
A four of fish and finger baps
In summer, meanwhile back
Under the shelter round the back of Bella Italia
The gyspy is selling plastic roses from a tray
And though she feels as if she’s in a play
She is anyway
Chippy lane is in my ears and in my eyes
There beneath the blue Cardiff skies
I sit, and meanwhile back
Chippy lane is in my ears and in my eyes
There beneath the blue Cardiff skies
Chippy Lane
